Daphne Faldi

Consultant for Student-Athlete Mental Health, Life Coach, and Advocate.

Hello, my name is Daphne Faldi. I am a consultant for student-athlete mental health, a certified life coach, and an advocate for athletes. I graduated from Harvard in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in biological anthropology and played field hockey and lacrosse. My college experience was profoundly shaped by the loss of my best friend, Sarah Devens, a star athlete at Dartmouth, to suicide. Her death deeply impacted me and the college athletic community, inspiring my commitment to athlete mental health.

I have served as a head lacrosse coach at both the high school and middle school levels and spent 13 years as part of the administrative team at a PreK-9th grade private school. My work in the health and wellness space focuses on supporting high school and college athletes.

Currently, I serve on the advisory board at McLean Hospital and collaborate with non-profits like Athletes for Hope, The Hidden Opponent, Morgan’s Message, and One Love to further my mission of advocating for athlete mental health and well-being.

SERVICES

Never has it been more challenging to raise a child than in today’s world. A global pandemic with remote learning and limited social interactions has made a major impact on children and families.  I know from experience that when a child is struggling with the complexities in their day-to-day lives, it impacts the entire family. Children want their parents to be their parents, and it is critical for adolescents to feel the love and support of their parents as they grow up. Yet as parents, we are always trying to balance the fine line of parenting while not nagging and nit-picking our children: How hard do I push them? Are they really giving their best in the classroom? Are they getting enough sleep and eating well?

I will work with families to create a comprehensive, collaborative, and team-based strategy that aligns with the needs of the family.

I have coached high school and middle school lacrosse for 17 years, and I have 3 competitive athletes of my own. I understand the role sports play in a child’s life. Most importantly, the mental wellness of our athletes needs to be our primary focus, as we continually expect them to perform at a high level in the classroom as well as on their teams. We are asking these student athletes to give their best at all times while balancing the rigors of school and sports. In addition, as these young adults embark on the recruiting process it often feels overwhelming (even isolating) for them as well as the family.

I will work with athletes and their families to organize and strategize this process: helping formulate emails to coaches, prioritizing a summer tournament schedule, highlight videos, college application process (beginning to end), transcripts and academic requirements, and most importantly moral support for the athlete. In short, I will be a constant throughout the process and help your child feel supported along the way.

There are many educational choices and options each of which are unique and special in their own way.  Finding a school that both supports and challenges your child will help them build confidence and thrive in their community. Finding the right school for your child will give them the community and foundation for growth and success.

I will help your family with the process of exploration, campus visits, interviews, applications, and final decisions.

My goal is to help your child find the “just right school for them.”
